The 22nd Holker Garden Festival

Presenting the very best of gardening, countryside, food and crafts, the Holker Garden Festival takes centre stage once again, for a three day summer extravaganza in the grounds of Holker Hall in Cark-in-Cartmel, Cumbria from Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June 2014.

Hosted by Lord and Lady Cavendish and celebrating its 22nd year, a show-stopping line up awaits as the Festival welcomes a very special guest; horticulturist and BBC The One Show’s resident gardening expert, Christine Walkden on Friday 30th May. Christine will be taking part in Q & A sessions in the Holker Garden Theatre, signing copies of her new book ‘No Nonsense Container Gardening’ and offering expert advice and top tips to amateur gardeners and visitors.

Bursting with magnificent horticultural displays, fragrance filled marquees, inspiring show gardens, live garden theatre and rare and unusual plants; green fingered visitors will be spoilt for choice.

There will be plenty of good old fashioned family fun on the agenda (don’t forget children under 16 go free!) with a glorious, 50ft traditional Victorian Helter Skelter set in the very centre of the Festival for all to enjoy. Live, action packed shows held regularly in the Festival arena including the daring, world famous Gerard Naprous & the Devil’s Horsemen Stunt Team, as well as Lamb National and sheepdog displays by Bob Hogg and terrier racing. Or, experience 19th century farm life as Old Hall Farm return with their 18hh Shire horses Ben & Troy, as well as traditional farming tools and machinery, steam driven engines and vintage tractors.

Foodies will find a veritable feast of delights to tempt their taste buds with a variety of Artisan and local produce available from delicious afternoon teas with fresh strawberries and cream to hearty hog roasts. Or why not step in to the Cartmel ‘pop-up’ Village and taste some of its well-known delicacies from businesses such as Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, Cartmel Cheeses and Unsworth Brewery.

Whether you’re looking for gardening, rural life, artisan produce, country crafts or family fun this summer, you will be sure to find it at the Holker Garden Festival. We hope you’ll join us!
